Holidays

My 2015 Holiday Wishlist

It's been a while since I shared a wishlist around these parts so I thought I'd share one for the holidays. In reality, my sister and I rarely celebrate holidays so we might put up stockings or buy a Christmas tree but it never really feels like Christmas. Especially in Southern California, and especially since I'm still wearing cutoff jean shorts. Also, paired with the fact that I never expect gifts from anyone, this is really more of a fun, let's-see-what-I-decide-to-get-myself, sort of thing. I'm also kind of obligated to tell you that some of the following links are affiliate links.

Beach-Babes-Guide-2015-Holiday-Wishlist

Let's go clockwise from the top.

1. Inside Out

2. Chloe, Love Story

3. Leslie Knope mug

4. Future Eyes Kaleidoscope Glasses

5. Bigger Picture Cards

6. Photojojo Enamel Pins

7. Cards Against Humanity

8. Ring Flash Adapter

9. Game of Phones

So I'm realizing that I like cards, apparently. And stuff for my camera. Hahaha. Anyway, I think I'm going to print out the Cards Against Humanity on cardstock or personalize it. I also think the two Photojojo card packs are something my friend and I would LOVE to do when we get together.

Anywho, what are some of the things on your wishlist this year??

Five Year Blog Anniversary- YAY!

Today marks my 5 year blog anniversary of XO Panda!

It didn't originally start off as XO Panda, but it's gradually made it's way there. I've talked about so many different things on this blog and it's really been more a record of my journey in life so far, and I wouldn't change it.

As the time has gone by, I've been able to work on XO Panda into a more focused place and I'm extremely grateful for the people who've come back time and time again to see what I'm up to.

Happy 4th Of July Weekend 2015

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday! I'll be having a low key weekend. Also, as a reminder, please be considerate of any local combat veterans. Fireworks may be fun for a majority of people but know that the noise can sometimes be a trigger for a combat veteran's PTSD.

Also, don't leave your pets outside.

ENJOY!

Gift Guide: For the Introvert

I usually don't create gift guides for the holidays but that's more because I feel like people create them for the same types of person. I've been wracking my head to come up with a gift guide for the "hard to buy gifts for" person. I think I've done a pretty bang up job if I say so myself.

It's getting down to the wire and if you're anything like me, you're just now starting to think about what gifts you want to buy for people. I'm admitting I'm a last minute shopper. But it's mainly because I absolutely HATE going to the mall. And crowds. And Christmas music is slightly annoying too, if I'm to be completely honest with you. But mainly I'm a last minute shopper because I'm one of those people that gets excited about giving people gifts and I'm not one to contain that excitement.  CHPG is actually making me wait to give him his gift.

If there are any introverts in your life, this guide is perfect. Most introverts are comfortable at home so anything to make their surroundings beautiful, or them more comfortable will always be a plus.

Halloween Costume Idea: Spinelli from 'Recess'

Spinelli Halloween Costume

Sometimes I find myself wanting to watch this cartoon on Netflix. Then I remember that they don't have it on Netflix. They have the movie, but not the series and that bums me out. Being a former super-tough tomboy, I can appreciate Spinelli. I still identify with the tomboy style but I also try to incorporate girly pieces in my own wardrobe. This costume is for THAT girl who wouldn't mind putting on a dress and a pair of striped leggings just to surprise the crap out of their friends.

Halloween Costume Idea: Professor Trelawney

Professor Trelawney Halloween Costume

This costume is super easy if you tend to gravitate towards the boho look. Just a flowy maxi dress, a hip to knee length kimono and every necklace that contains some sort of stone in it. The key to this look though is the glasses, which I totally just saw a pair of at Michael's for about $2. Easy as pie.

Halloween Costume Idea: Rene Magritte "The Son of Man"

Last year I brought you costumes that you could easily make from items in your closet inspired by the 90s. This year, I'm bringing you costumes that are somewhat unconventional.

Rene Magritte's "The Son of Man" is by far my favorite painting. I can't explain why, but I know it has something to do with "The Thomas Crown Affair" and the scene where he returns the painting, for sure.

I always think this would be a super cool costume to dress up as, and hardly no one will know the reference. Also, it's better to use a fake apple sewn to the brim of the bowler hat.

Have you figured out what you're going to be for Halloween?

Happy Birthday, XO Panda!

Guess what guys?! XO Panda turned four years old the other day and I didn't realize it until today. It was on the third so at least two weeks didn't go by until I realized it. Just two. Anyway, I'll probably celebrate by doing the most blogger thing ever. Getting myself a pumpkin spice... frapuccino, because it's still like 80 degrees. There's no sweater weather here usually until about mid-October.

I can't believe I've been blogging for four years. More actually, but wow. I started this blog because I was going through personal issues and now, I have a clearer focus of what I want to do and where I want this blog to go and now I'm starting to grow it ever so slightly.

July 23, 2014 - Birthday Recap

I never really do much, aside from hang out with my sister on my birthday simply because our birthdays are so close. She's July 20th and I'm July 23rd.

July 23rd is also National Hot Dog Day, so we went to Johnny Rockets to eat hot dogs.

Birthday 2014 2I also took a derpy picture.

Birthday 2014 3After that, we headed over to the beach where during my birthday week, Long Beach hosts the Asics World Series of Beach Volleyball competition. We got to see a couple of matches like Germany V. USA, and Chile V. Italy but my favorite was watching Spain V. USA because well, Spain. They're the only country I ever root for in anything.

Birthday 2014 6

(Apparently I'm all about the derp face.)

Birthday 2014 4I also got to meet the two male players from Spain, Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira, and I've never felt shorter in my life.

Birthday 2014 5Like a dummy, I forgot a water bottle, sunscreen, a towel and my hat and so we were scorching. We went down to shoreline village which was close to get something cold.

While we were there we stopped in at what we call 'the hot sauce store', Hot Licks, because:

Birthday 2014 7Nothing but hot sauce. My own personal heaven. If you're ever questioning what to get me for any holiday. A bottle of hot sauce will put you in good graces. LOL.

Finally,

Birthday 2014 8

Birthday 2014 1
After that, we were beat so we ended up coming back home and taking naps. Around 9 we went and got some ice cream and called it a night.
