Thankful For

February 2017 Gratitude

I'm a firm believer in showing gratitude for the things that we receive. I like to take a few minutes at the end of the day to write them down and so here are all of the things that I was grateful for in February.

  1. Spending time at the park
  2. Max sleeping in bed with me
  3. The rain
  4. Dance nights
  5. Taking my shoes off after a long day
  6. Starting water week
  7. School starts. My final FM class
  8. Falling asleep early
  9. I think I'm ready to take this fashion entrepreneur class
  10. The rain, again
  11. Hulu
  12. It being warm enough to go to the beach today
  13. That I don't have to pay of going to the doctor
  14. Spending time with Gary
  15. Antibiotic ointment
  16. Starting my morning with Daybreaker
  17. That Max didn't fight me when I gave him his bath today
  18. Getting off work early
  19. Reading while taking a hot bath
  20. Being able to trust the Universe
  21. That Gary comes back today!
  22. Almost two weeks into my fitness
  23. Salads from SaladFarm
  24. Started Vaquita ad
  25. Work out Rest day
  26. Did the beach clean up
  27. Taking Gary to the Aquarium for his first time
  28. My bed after a long day

Do you regularly write down the things that you're grateful for? What are some of the things you were grateful for in February, or this month so far?

Thankful Thirty Challenge- COMPLETE

Is it seriously July already? Where did the time go? Is my birthday in only 22 more days? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, HERE?!?!?! That's obviously a post for another time but for now I wanted to let you know that yes, I was able to keep up and complete my June Thankful Thirty challenge.

In June:

  • I am thankful for finding inspiration and being renewed in blogging.
  • I am thankful for the quietness of the early morning before people wake up and the birds start chirping.
  • I am thankful for my bed!
  • I am thankful for having days off.
  • I am thankful for Netflix.
  • I am thankful for days when time goes by super fast.
  • I am thankful that Jim Henson existed and that he followed his heart and passion
  • I am thankful for people in the fashion business who enjoy working with students.
  • I am thankful for naps.
  • I am thankful for happy mail from friends in far off places.
  • I am thankful for fresh strawberries.
  • I am thankful for days off in the middle of the week.
  • I am thankful that today is my Friday.
  • I am thankful for seeing friends that I haven't seen in months.
  • I am thankful for the hair I have the day after I wash my hair.
  • I am thankful for choosing to be a champion today.
  • I am thankful for stretch day.
  • I am thankful for business opportunities that present themselves.
  • I am thankful for clear Southern California days.
  • I am thankful for grilled cheese sandwiches.
  • I am thankful for my mom because today is her birthday.
  • I am thankful for finding that I have a passion for helping people get fit.
  • I am thankful that my dad comes back from Mexico today.
  • I am thankful for finishing plyo and not passing out.
  • I am thankful for Fedex.
  • I am thankful for feeling my body getting stronger.
  • I am thankful for ice.
  • I am thankful to have Anna as my coach.
  • I am thankful for having a fan.
  •  I am thankful to finally have a sunday off since January.

So there we go. I realize I should have numbered them instead of using bullet points, but just remember it's for every day of the month. What are some things that you're thankful for. I realize some of mine may seem a little materialistic but hey! Aren't you thankful that Netflix exists too?

Thankful Thirty Challenge

It seems like this year is full of challenges for me. Not the kind that tend to set you back in your plans, but the kind that you set for yourself in order to grow. There's me keeping up with 'Panda Gets Fit'. There's me and the Goodreads challenge by reading a book a month. There's me sticking to a yearlong money saving challenge (that I haven't blogged about yet), me trying to mark off one thing from my adventure list every month and now this one.

In an effort to try to change my mind into naturally thinking more positively, I want to sit down every night and write down something that I am thankful for. The good things. The small, insignificant things that we tend to overlook or ignore. I'm going to write my list in my journal to keep it in one place, but I thought that some people may not be keeping journals or sketchbooks so I made this easy printable for those of you who aren't.

This 'Thankful Thirty' starts tomorrow June 1st, but you can join in any time. I think you should! Eh, eh! I'm thinking about sharing my list with you at the end of June.

So it's another challenge for me for the year.

Appreciating My Blessings

I feel like I've been using the words, 'Thanks', 'Thanksgiving', and 'Thankful' way too much lately so I'm using other words to show my gratitude.
IRL it may seem that I complain too much, and it's probably true. I have a hard time being satisfied with the things that I have in my life, and always want more so today will be a day to practice being appreciative of the things that are already in my life.
  1. My Friends and Family: For which a lot of them have gotten me through some very hard times, have put up with my opinion on tights as pants, my love for cheesy 90s songs, my cameras constantly in their faces, and just my general dorkiness. My two favorite bears, until I have my very own, Kayden and Kennedy who presence honestly make me smile, and make me wish to give them a cousin.
  2. My sir: For everything that he represents in my life. He is my constant. The person who makes me feel home. My soulmate, and even though our situation is difficult and we can't be together, I'm just appreciative of the fact that I know who my soulmate is. I don't have to search the world for him because he's already in my life. For being able to: Test my patience and give me patience; Make me cry, but then know exactly what to say to make me smile; Piss me off and then make me laugh; Be a lover and a best friend.
  3. P90X and Paleo: I always thought it was hokey when you would hear commercials where people would say, "Jenny Craig/ Weight Watchers/ETC., changed my life". I mean, how can they change your life? YOU'RE the one who decided to change your life, why aren't you saying, "I changed my life"? That is until I started doing P90X and Paleo. Paleo helped me realize what food made my body feel like. Why I felt sluggish and not optimal. P90X released my inner fitness beast into the world. I always wanted to be the person that was fit, and would go running, and hiking, and rappelling, and all that fun junk, but the body that I had, even a year ago, didn't afford me that opportunity. Since starting it, I've lost weight, have been able to keep it off for the most part, give or take a few pounds, learned that I would love to learn to box, came to the realization that I might actually be a runner, have more endurance, become stronger, more confident, and overall more happy, so as hokey as it may sound to someone else now, P90X REALLY changed my life and I'm a better person for it now.
  4. Having a job and being able to go to school. I may not have the most glamourous job, and my friends and family are usually like, "What DO you do?" but due to confidentiality agreements that were signed, I can't say. My usual response is, "I type all day". I can give them the gist of it, but not specifics. I love that I have the opportunity to go to school for a career that I love, which may seem vain to others but suits me perfectly.
  5. Being an American. Where I have a right to vote and voice my opinion, and wear anything ostentaciously emblazoned with the Red, White, and Blue stars and stripes.  AND LAST, BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST...
  6. The United States Armed Forces. Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Active, Reserved, and Retired. Past and Present. AND THEIR FAMILIES. I appreciate that so many men and women, have laid their lives out on the line for us to enjoy the freedoms that we do. And I know it takes a tremendous effort from their loved ones to accept that their spouse is away from home for months at a time. That they miss out on family reunions, and birthdays, and holidays such as today where the important factor is family, yet they aren't around, because I know I wish with all my heart that my Sir could be here today to enjoy the holiday with those that he loves. But to them, their service will always come first and that's something that I'm extremely grateful for. People who have the courage to fight wars that aren't theirs, lay their lives on the line for people they don't know, and not ask for a single thing in return from us. They do it willingly, valiantly, and without commendation.

So today, I will try not to complain about that which I don't have an appreciate that which I do. Have a happy thanksgiving!
